The Origin of the Name

In memoriam 1241: Batu Khan, with his 90,000-strong Mongol army, invaded the Kingdom of Hungary, leaving destruction and death in their wake. On April 11, 1241, King Béla IV faced the Mongol forces at the Battle of Mohi, where despite a valiant fight, we faced defeat. During the years of the Mongol invasion, half of the Kingdom's population was lost. This chili sauce commemorates the victims of that era.
